RoboCon 2025 Recap: Helsinki, Online & A Whole Lot of Community

RoboCon 2025 is a wrap. Two formats — in-person in snowy Helsinki and online a few weeks later via Gather.town — and both delivered. Different energy in each, but the same feeling throughout: this community keeps showing up, sharing, and pushing things forward.

Let’s break it down.

Online (Gather.town)​

  • All in a virtual world where avatars roam, side chats happen in 2D bars, and yes — there’s a sauna

🎤 Helsinki Highlights​

Being back at Bio Rex just worked. That classic venue delivers — great auditorium for talks, and the side bar area gave space for quieter convos.

The Finnish theme added flavor:

  • Our team, team Robot Framework, repping blue-and-white hockey shirts
  • Mölkky on the snowy terrace
  • Tabletop hockey and the Robot Framework Snake game
  • Finnish food at the conference

Gamification was well-received. Sponsor booths got solid traffic, and the Elevator Pitch competition turned out to be a good mix of pressure and fun.

A personal favorite: the Finnish-German dinner. It started with Helan Går and somehow ended in karaoke with a room full of test automation folks. A night to remember.

The talks themselves hit home — average rating: 4.53 / 5. A strong sign that the content landed well.

The vibe? Friendly, focused, and grounded.
NPS score: 65% — a clear signal that people left with good energy.

🌐 Online Conference Takeaways​

The online event had a different kind of flow — more flexible, yet interactive, and very much alive.

Joe Colantonio hosted again and kept the pace right. Talks and Q&A were sharp throughout, with an average talk rating of 4.3 / 5.

Gather.town continues to shine:

  • Speaker Corners gave direct access to speakers
  • Casual bar/lounge chats felt natural
  • Thursday night games and hangouts brought real connection

Community Day stood out — no real agenda, just the community building it together. People shared, coded, and collaborated across time zones.

And the feedback matched the vibe:
Online NPS: 69% — excellent for a virtual event.

During the online conference, we officially launched the Robot Framework Certified Professional (RFCP) certificate. At the in-person event, we also awarded paper certificates — hand-signed — to some of the people who had already helped test the exam. Credits Jan Lewandowski.

🛠️ Tutorials, Workshops & Extras​

  • Tutorial Day (March 4) kicked things off with practical, hands-on sessions online. Great learning you can revisit on our YouTube Channel
  • Workshops (Feb 12 in Helsinki) gave Gold ticket holders a chance to dive deep with experts. Superior sessions delivered by awesome trainers
  • Suomenlinna trip on Saturday gave everyone a scenic, low-key end to a high-energy week
